Hello ladies.
Stephoni has asked me to add a few things to the blog. This is my first entry. First, a reminder of our last meeting:
the last meeting of the year! We
were all excited about Christmas, and we were blessed by Jan’s testimony. A few of the highlights…
We discussed the recent shooting in Sandy Hook, CT. There was a general consensus that the
incident was overwhelming and impossible to understand. However, we encouraged each other:
a.
Sometimes things are overwhelming, but evil
things are going to happen regardless so we can place our trust in God to get
through it.
b.
This is a great opportunity to regroup,
appreciate our own children, and them close.
c.
Some people lose sight of the fact that God
doesn’t do bad/evil things. There
is no reason to blame God for this.
He will not keep all bad things from happening, but he will be our
comforter.
d.
God uses all things for the good of those who love
Him.
Joy asked for prayer regarding her sister’s situation. Please keep Joy, her sister, and her
entire family in your prayers.
We finished our discussion of Matthew 7. Things we covered in the chapter:
a.
Criticism/judgment: “Why do you look at the speck
of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own
eye?”
b.
Ask, Seek, Knock: “Ask and it will be given to
you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
c.
The Way to Heaven: “…small is the gate and narrow
the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
d.
The Fruit in People’s Lives: “A good tree cannot
bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.”
e.
Building a House on Rock or Sand: “Therefore
everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a
wise man who built his house on the rock.”
I am looking forward to beginning the study
of Matthew Chapter 8 with you tonight!
Melanie
